Easter in Germany

Let me take you on a delightful journey through my first Easter adventure in Germany! Picture this: Berlin, a lovely German couple, and an Easter egg hunt that took gift-giving to a whole new level.

So there we were, my family and I, invited to their enchanting garden. The German couple had cooked up a surprise for us. But instead of simply handing over the gifts, they decided to turn it into a playful treasure hunt. Our gifts were cleverly hidden in every nook and cranny of their garden, as if we were about to embark on an epic quest.

Armed with curiosity and excitement, we began our quest for the hidden treasures. It was like a high-stakes game of hide-and-seek, Easter edition. The couple grinned mischievously as we scurried around the garden, following clues and peeking behind bushes. It felt like a blend of Sherlock Holmes and the Easter Bunny on a collaboration mission.

Eventually, after a few giggles, surprise twists, and a fair amount of leaf-rustling detective work, we uncovered our well-hidden Easter gifts. The joy on our faces mirrored the delight of children finding hidden Easter eggs, and I couldn’t help but appreciate the thoughtfulness and creativity of our German hosts.

Fast forward to a more recent memory, the birth of my daughter in the heart of Berlin. Let me tell you, Germany knows how to take care of its mommies! The level of support from the German government and health insurance was nothing short of incredible.

It wasn’t just about the medical care. My husband and I had the privilege of taking part in a three-month online course about parenting. Yes, you heard that right—parenting boot camp, German style! From diaper-changing techniques to lullaby singing competitions, we dove headfirst into the world of parenthood.

The German approach was not just about medical services; it was a holistic experience. It felt like the country was saying, „Hey, welcome to the world of parenting! Here’s a manual and some support.“

So there you have it, a whimsical tale of Easter egg hunts in German gardens and parenting courses that turned us into parenting pros. Living in Germany was not just about the practicalities; it was about embracing the quirks and surprises that made every experience a little more fun and memorable.
